Water Transfer Printing involves four stages: item preparation, film preparation, item decoration and item finishing.
The first of these stages (sand, prime and base coat,) can be undertaken in advance of the actual decorating but the remaining three stages must be completed as one procedure.
Step 1.
Surface of item to be decorated is sanded to receive primer.
Item is shot with primer.
Item is shot with desired base coat.
Item is given time to dry.
Step 2.
A piece of film, cut to accommodate the length of the item to be decorated is laid onto the water.
The chemical activator is applied to the film.
Step 3.
The item can now be slowly immersed into the tank through the film.
Item is removed from the tank after being completely submerged.
Item is rinsed and dried.
Step 4.
Item is prepared for topcoat.
Item is shot with an acrylic finish of choice, (high or low gloss.)
